Overview
A significant number of individuals mentioned in the correspondence of Sir George Oxenden, 1662-1669, remain unidentified.
Many of the individuals are mentioned just once in passing. However, by firmly identifying them, it will add to our knowledge of the networks of friends, acquaintances, and contacts of the Oxenden family in this period.
The list of individuals below is subject to change as annotation of the correspondence progresses, with names being added and deleted.
How you can help
Please use the Missing Faces Lab to share ideas and sources about missing faces which are not ready for publication
If the identity of the individual is clear, you could
- Make an identification and write a short foot note supported by primary and/or secondary sources to accompany the letter or letters in which the individual is mentioned.
- Write a short biographical profile and post it to the wiki, using the standard biographical template
