The cause is that "On the behalfe of his Highnes the Lord Protector against the shipp the ''Red Lyon'' whereof John Clauson May is master and against the goods in the same".UNIQ5e71b8ca4dddaa89-ref-0000000B-QINU The master of the ship is named as Jan Claeson May , a twenty-eight year old mariner, of Amsterdam. The connection between this appearance of the ''Red Lton'' and the earlier appearance of the ''Red Lyon'' with master Michael Jochimson is that the second ''Red Lyon's'' owners are names as Phillipp and Samuelll dorville, Marcus Jansen Mey, and Michael Jochimson (the master), who are described as burghers and inhabitants of Amsterdam and subjects of the United Provinces. In the earlier case of the ''Redd Lyon'', John Dorville of Hamburg and his brother William Dorville of Rouen, are alleged to be the freighter and consignee (though not the owners).
