as that the producent George ffarrington an English Merchant there<br />
resident out of meere love to his Country and Countriemen the<br />
owners of the said ship and for the preservation of her and<br />
her provisions abord her from a certaine [XXXXX] if not tymely<br />
prevented) did procure him this deponent together with his<br />
precontest John Hart and severall other Masters and Marriners of<br />
ships then at that place with theire boats vessells and other Materialls<br />
to get the said ship ''Cleeve'' off the said Rockes upon which shee<br />
was soe fast sett. And saith that the said persons soe procured<br />
and imployed by the said producent with much difficulty and<br />
great labour and paines did get the said ship cleare accordingly<br />
and soe preserved her from being splitt in peeces and<br />
perishing which shee could not otherwise have escaped. All<br />
which hee knoweth to [?bee] because hee this deponent was then<br />
with the ship whereof hee was commander at Zante and<br />
then and there sawe the said ship the ''Arke'' upon the said Rockes<br />
and tooke great notice [?of] what care and diligence the said producent<br />
got her cleared from thence and was one himselfe that was assistant<br />
therein. And further hee cannot depose.
To the third and fowerth articles of the said Libell and schedule annexed<br />
hee saith and deposeth That assoone as the said ship the ''Arke''<br />
was as aforesaid gott cleare of the said Rocks shee appeared to<br />
this deponent and the rest that was then present who were<br />
more experienced in shipping to bee very much bruised broken<br />
and damnified and a great part of her keele was thereby quite<br />
taken away and the said ship in severall other parts of her was<br />
soe impaired shattered and damnified as that shee stood in<br />
need of sundrye materialls reparations provisions and necessaryes<br />
as that without the amendments thereof and furnishing therewith shee<br />
could not possibly goe to sea againe and the said producent<br />
perceaving and as this deponent conceiveth and hath ?heard] haveing formerly had correspondence with [XXXX]<br />
the said Hayward and others of the said ships Owners hee did<br />
(out of meere love to them as his Countrymen and acquaintances<br />
and to the end that the said ship might not lye there and Rott, but be[?e]<br />
againe set forth for her owners Advantage) lay forth and<br />
disburse severall and great Sommes of money as in the schedule<br />
hereunto annexed is specified and conteyned most of [XXXXX]<br />
of this deponents sight and knowledge were by him [?Expended]<br />
layed out and procured for and about the necessary [XXXX]<br />
reparation and amendment of the said ship and her [XXXXXXX]<br />
and all the rest of the said Somme hee is verily perswaded in his<br />
conscience and beleiveth were allsoe Laid out by the<br />
said producent in and about the same. And further<br />
hee cannot depose.
