Francis Chaplin, aged thirty, describing himself as citizen and clothworker of London, deposed in the High Court of Admiralty on April 1st 1658.[4]
Chaplin's deposition was one of fourteen depositions, a remarkably large number for an High Court of Admiralty case.,
