and by North, or neere about that point, and that considering the
winde was in that quarter, the master and pilot of the said shipp steered
their course for Cadiz soe as they declared was most convenient for them
namely for the coast of England; and steering soe for the English coast
had noe reason to avoide nor did (as hee beleeveth) endeavour
to avoide to be seene by the English or to be met with by them, nor
made or sett up any more saile in order to avoide them; And saith that
hee heard the Captaine or commannder of the said shipp John kein
commannd the Stiersman of the same upon her comming to
steer for the English coast, and that as hee this deponent understood
from the Stiersman and other Navigtors of the shipp the said course
for the English coast (the winde and weather considered) was the most
commodious course for the said shipp being bound for Cadiz
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

Upon the rest not examined by direction of the producent

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith hee hath also a bale of linnen in the said
shipp for his owne accompt, without marke, wjhich hee bought with
Spanish wine that hee brought from Middleborowe, alsoe 33 peeces
of pictures or liming worke, 8 looking glasses, a chest of East India [?hornes],
three baggs of pepper, and 3 baggs of cloves, a barrell of gumme, 22
rolls and one hogshead of tobacco, twelve dozen of knives, five
tonnes of tobacco pipes, and a hamper of haberdasherie, containing
tweesars, the release whereof will be advantagious to him, soe it bee
speedie.

To the second hee saith hee cometh required by his precontest the master
of the said shipp, to testifie in this cause, and otherwise negatively.

To the third hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition and cannot
otherwise depose.

To the 4th hee hath not soe deposed.

Examined upon the foresaid allegation.

John Danckars of Dergoose in Zealand Mariner. Stiersman
of the said shipp the hare in the ffeild aged 35 yeares or thereabouts
sworne and examined.

To the third article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that
when the shipp the hare in the ffeild came out with her lading in
question from haver de Grace the master John kein and this deponent
her stiersman the winde being about North East and by North, steered
Nrth west and by North, and as was most convenient for them (respect
being had to the winde and weather) for their designed port of Cadiz,
