The 17th of May 1655. [CENTRE HEADING]
The claime of Peter Blackborowe for}
the goods in the shipp the Grayhound}
John hall master, lately cast away neare yarmouth}
Examined upon an allegation
in the acts of Court on the
behalfe of the said Blackborough.
Rp. .j.
Peter Blackborowe of the parish of Lambethe
in the County of Surry Marchant, aged 28 yeares
or thereabouts sworne and examined.
To the said allegation hee saith that the lading of goods aboard the said
shipp the Grayhound, lately, namely yesterday was seavenight or
thereabouts, cast away with the said shipp upon the Neworke
neare Yarmouth, consisting in deale bords and timber, did at the
time of such their casting away really and truely belonge to this deponent
and partner Thomas Shirley, both Englishmen Marchants, and
subiects of this Commonwealth, and were bought and paid for in
Norway at holmstrand with their money and there laden for their
proper and sole accompt by the said Thomas Shirley, to be transported
to this port for their accompt.

Edmund Lee of the parish of Saint Andrew in the
Wardrobe London Marchant, aged 28 yeares or
thereabouts, sworne and examined.
To the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that Thomas Shirley
English marchant (whom hee well knoweth) partner of his precontest
Peter Blackborough, about seaven weekes since tooke the said shipp
the Grayhound to freight of and from John hall her master and
William Wood and others her owners, for a voyage to be made therewith
to holmstrand in Norway to fetch deales and timber thence for the
accompt of him the said Thomas in partnershipp with the said
Peter Blackborowe, to this port of London, which affreightment
was soe made upon the Royall Exchange London with the privitie of this
deponent; And saith the said shipp proceeded hence accordingly
and as this deponent hath received advice from his factor in those
parts, shee tooke in her said lading at holmstrand, within two
[?miles] or thereabouts of [?halloms-boove] whence this deponents
factor wrote, and where hee laded a shipp for this deponents
accompt. And further that as this deponent hath bin credibly
informed, the said shipp Grayhound, comming in her homewards
voyage neare yarmouth, was cast away upon the
Newarke about nine dayes since, with her lading of deales
and timber belonging to the said Peter Blackborowe abd Thomas
Shirley.
Repeated before doctor Clerke with
his precontest.
