Richard Chewne for about three yeares last past, and was first acquainted
with him at Aleppo in Turkey during the Voiage in Controversie, And
saith That the English Convoy that came to Cyprus consisted of the shipp
Paragon Captaine Bodiloe Commander, the Phaenix, whereof one
Wadsworth was Commander and the Elizabeth, Jonas Reeve Commander
And further to this Interrogatorie hee cannot depose, not knowing any thing
of the factorie or imployment of the interrate Richard Chewne./
To the fourth hee saith, That hee this rendent was not at Cyprus when
the dart and the African friggat interrate were there or departed
thence. And further saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot depose./:-
To the 5th hee saith hee hath not deposed nor doeth hee know of any such Order
as is interrate.
To the 6th hee saith That the Convoy and Thomas Bonadventure interrate
departed from Cyprus upon the 10th day of June 1652. last past.
To the 7th and 8th hee saith hee hath not so deposed./
To the 9th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, And further cannot depose./
To the 10th hee saith hee hath not so deposed to the article interrate./
To the 11th hee saith the English Convoy and Thomas Bonadventure interrate came into
Porto Longoone, as this rendent now remembreth, upon or about the 30th of
August 1652:- and remembreth not that any Merchant shipp departed out of
Porto Longoone aforesaid till about ffebruary 1652. English style/
To the 12th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition And further cannot depose.
To the 13th hee saith the said shipp Thomas Bonadventure was by the interrate
Captaine Bodiloe and Mr Longland order commanded into the service of this Common
wealth at Porto Longoone, this rendent being then aboard the said shipp the
Mary Rose, which then was also commannded into the same service, And beleeveth
the said shipps were so commannded by order from the then Supreme power
of this Commonwealth./
To the 14th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, And further
knoweth not.
To the 15th hee saith, That hee well knoweth the interrate Roger ffowke
who was then and is Consull for the English at Cyprus in which Condition this
deponent knew him in the moneth of May 1652. interrate, And further knoweth
not nor can depose otherwise then negatively.
To the 16th hee saith, That hee this renden well knoweth the Ports of
London Cyprus Porta fferara abnd Zant and Porto Longoone interrate
And further cannot depose./
To the 17th hee saith hee beleeveth and hath Credibly heard that in 3. moneths time a
shipp with convenient wind and weather may come from Cyprus to London, and
that such a Voiage hath bin severall times performed, And further cannot
depose not being a person versed in Navigation./
To the 18th hee saith hee knoweth nothing thereof./
To the 19th hee saith That Porto Longoone is under the dominion of the
king of Spaine and Porta fferrara under the duke of fflorence
To the 20th hee saith hee knoweth nothing thereof./
