Transcription

Whetcombe and Mr Jackson, and consigned to be here delivered unto them
All which hee knoweth because hee this deponent being then
master of the said shipp as aforesaid received the said goods aboard and
signed bills of lading for the same, And saith that on or about the
fourteenth of the said moneth of October last the said shipp with the said
goods aboard her sett saile and departed from Malaga for this port
and in her course comming neare Scilly on or about the
fourth of November last shee was met with and set upon
by a Brest man of warr with tenn guns mounted, who tooke her
and her said lading, and was carrying them for Brest, but in the
night time [?comming] fowle of the [?Seames] Rocks on the coast of
Britany the company of the Brestman cutt the cable wherewith
hee towed her, and the man that hee had put into her being a [?mazed]
ran out of her into their boate and eft her; all which hee knoweth
being carried in the said man of warr in her company, and seeing
the premisses soe donne, And saith that the said vessell being by the winde
carried out to sea, a fflushinger comming homewards
(as this deponent hath bin credibly informed) finding her adrift
put men aboard her and carried her safe home to fflushing,
with all the said goods in her saving two barrells of the said raisins
namely one greate and one small) which the said Captaine
of the frigot (that seized her) tooke away, soe that the said
shipp and goods were and are in manner aforesaid lost for the
owners thereof: And otherwise hee cannot depose.

Examined upon an allegation on the
behalfe of the said Cable./

Thomas Ramsey of Wapping in the County of Middlesex
Shipwright, aged 27 yeares or thereabouts sworne and
examined.

To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that the
voyage arlate of the shipp the dove (Walter Cable master) for Newcastle
in August last hee this deponent was Carpenter of her and went that
voyage in her, and thereby knoweth that in all her passage and
course from Tilbury hope to Tinmouth haven
(happening in or about the beginning of August last past) shee did not
come soe neare any shipp, barke or vessell whatsoever as to touch her,
in her passing through the Well or elswhere in her outwards voyage
betwixt the hope and Tinmouth haven aforesaid, which is shee had
donne this deponent being constantly aboard must (as hee saith) needs
