To the 2d hee saith, hee doeth not know nor hath heard any thing
concerning the suite interrate:-
To the .3. hee saith hee this rendent served in and aboard the shipp the
Thomas Bonadventure interrate so long as shee was in the service of this
Commonwealth, and had fiftie shillings by the moneth for his wages in that
service, and had 40 s per moneth for each moneth hee served in the former
Voyage interrate, And saith hee doeth not know neither hath he heard
how much was paid or to be paid monethly for the said shipps service done to
this Commonwealth. And further cannot depose./
To the 4th hee saith hee was at Porta Longoone interrate when the English
shipps were there blocked up by the dutch, and doeth not at present
remember when the dutch shipps withdrew from thence, for that hee hath not
at present his journall booke wherein hee tooke notice thereof.//
To the 5th hee knoweth one Mr ffowke a Merchant residing at Ciprus
but remembreth not his Christian name, and saith hee hath knowne him
for about 4. or five yeares, And further or otherwise hee cannot depose
saving the said Fowke was and is accompted a factor for severall Merchants:-
To the 6th hee saith, hee this rendent hath been three times besides that
Voyage in question at Cyprus, where hee heard of the hostility betwixt
the English, and those of Tripoly, and saith hee hath for severall yeares
before heard that the Tripoly men did seize English shipps, and for some
yeares since that ffrenchmen of warr have done and doe the like
and so much hee beleeveth hath for severall yeares bin, and is notorious
amongst Sea men and others And further cannot depose./
To the 7th hee saith hee doeth not knowe or remember, that at his last being
at Cyprus hee saw any such person as the interrate William ffowke, nor
doeth hee personally knowe any man of that name, neither did this rendent
heare any discourse at Cyprus between the persons interrate, And therefore
cannot further depose to the demands of this Interrogatorie/:-
