the shipp the Thomas Bonadventure of London then being also there; and seeing
and observing both the arrivall and departure of the said dart frigatt.
And further cannot depose./

To the second hee saith, That the shipp the Thomas Bonadventure arlate
was not fully laden or cleared at Ciprus by the arlate Roger ffowke and
Richard Chewne ffactors and Agents for the arlate Alderman ffrederick
and the rest of her ffraighters untill about the 8th or 9th day of June 1652
arlate, And that sewerall baggs of Cotton wooll were between the 15th of May
and the said 8th or 9th of June 1652. brought and laden aboard the said shipp the
Thomas Bonadventure at Ciprus amounting as this deponent remembreth to about 20. or 30
And saith so farr as this deponent now remembreth
the last of the said Cotton woolls were brought aboard the said shipp upon or
about the 7th or 8th day of the said moneth of June 1652. and that the said goods were
so received on board by the direction of the said Richard Chewne; The premisses
hee well knoweth being at the time aforesaid in the quality of Purser of and
aboard the said shipp, and in that quality upon the 8th or 9th day of the said moneth
signed and firmed bills of lading for the said goods so received as is predeposed
And further hee cannot depose:-/

To the 3. 4. and 5th articles hee saith and deposeth, That there was notice
and intelligence at Ciprus upon and about the 5. 6. and 7th of June 1653
arlate, and for about a moneth before during the time the said shipp the Thomas
Bonadventure remained there, That 6. or 7. Tripoly men of warr of great
force were about that time not farr from Ciprus ready to seize upon the
shipps and goods of the English then and now in hostility with them of Tripoly
And that about the same time it was there reported by the English Consull and some
others, that there was a very great apparence of a breach between the English
and the dutch. And saith it was then and there notorious That the hollanders
had about that time sewerall men of warr in the straights, as they usually
have, but how many this deponent did not heare at Ciprus. hee also saith
That it was about the time predeposed a generall report at Ciprus aforesaid
That sewerall french men of warr of great force were then in and about the
Straights in the usuall Course from Ciprus to London. The premisses hee deposeth
being as aforesaid Purser of and belonging to the said shipp the Thomas
Bonadventure for all the time preddeposed, And thereby observing and taking
notice of the premisses. And further hee cannot depose./

To the 6. and 7th articles hee saith and deposeth, That the arlate Captaine
Bodiloe came to and arrived at Ciprus upon or about the 16th day of
May 1652. as this deponent now remembreth, being come thither expressely
(as was then and there commonly reported) to be a Convoy for English shipps then
remaining in the Straights, and so much hee saith was then and there
publique and notorious, And saith That thereupon it was generally held
fitt amongst Merchants and factors having there any disposall of English
shipps that the same should attend the departure of the said Captaine Bodiloe
and to saile away with him as their Convoy and for their security from all
