Transcription

To the 9th article of the sayd allegation hee saith hee well knoweth that
after such tyme as hee this deponent the arlate Court, and the Barnes came
on board the dope at Yarmouth as aforesayd the arlate John Cornelison
dope was not on shoare or spake with any one except him this deponent and the sayd
shipps company, and that none but the sayd Barnes and this deponent came on
board the dope at Yarmouth nor any tyme after till her being cast away And
further hee cannot depose./

To the 10th article of the sayd alleagtion hee saith that soe soone as hee this
deponent (being the arlate david cant) came on board the sayd shipp
dope in yarmouth Roade hee had the sole piloting of the sayd shipp for
London committed by the sayd Tresaure to hin this deponent And saith
the arlate Cornelius Johnson dope was then on board her and soe
continued to the tyme of the sayd shipps Casting away, and had his
liberty to doe what hee could as to the safe sayling the same for London and did when shee was by misfortune
runne on ground assiste and doe his utmost endeavour for the preser=
vation of her and her ladeing And further to this article hee cannot depose

To the 11th article hee saith the sayd shipp the dope in her passage
from Yarmouth towards London was togeather with fower other
shipps (whereof the arlate Tresaures man of warr called the Venter
was one) by misfortune runne a ground upon a sand called
the Middle ground and there notwithstanding this deponent and
the sayd Cornelius Johnson dope and the sayd Tresaure, and the whole
shipps company did their utmost endeavour to have preserved
her and her ladeing, shee was there cast away and perished in the sea
and the sayd Tresaure and all the Company of the sayd Shipp were in
great danger to have lost their lives, there being noe ship boate
belonging wither to the sayd shipp the dope or the sayd shipp Venter, which
was a great cause why the shipp dope could not be gotten off and
preserved, soe that the sayd Tresaure and Company and this deponent perceiving the eminent
danger they were all in were forced for the preservation of their
lives to make a raffe of the maynemast of the shipp the dope
and with the helpe thereof to floate up and downe till they were taken up
by one of the shipps that had bin runne aground as aforesayd and had
gotten of, who had a boate belonging to her, and soe seny out the same
and thereby preserved the sayd Tresaure and Company and this deponent and the
sayd dutch Master from drowneingm wich the sayd man of Warr the
Venter though she were gott off fron Ground could not doe for that
shee had noe boate, nor could therefore yeild any assistance to preserve the shipp dope
And further hee cannot depose./

To the 12th saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot depose/

To the 13th hee saith hee cannot depose for that hee bever knew the sayd Trasaure
till such tyme as hee this deponent was imployed by him to pilot the shipp dope from
yarmouth to London
