To the fifteenth he saith that he this Rendent was borne att Garachichu
Teneriffe aforesayd, and there hath his family and usuall habitacion. and saith
that he hath noe property or any manner of Interest in the sayd money claymed
by way of ensurance or otherwise. neither will it be any benefit to him, [?in]
case the same shall be [?restored]. And further he cannot depose.
To the sixteenth, seventeeth eighteenth and nyneteeth he cannot depose.
To the twentyeth negatively.
To the one and twentyeth he saith that the Master Cloppenbergh signed three [?bills]
of lading all of one tenor for the money now claymed, and delivered them to the
sayd Lorenzo, and the sayd Lorenzo delivered one of them [?loose] and open [?be]
againe to the sayd Cloppenbergh aboard the sayd shipp on the same day
tyme that they sayd bills were signed. And otherwise he cannot depose.
To the two and twentyeth he saith that the the money now Claymed was all
laden aboard the shipp Salvador riding att an Anchor neer unto and
under the Commannd of the fforts of Cadize. But this Rendent knoweth
of any pasport or Cocquett for the sayd money. nor is it usuall to have [?any]
such [?cases]. And otherwise he cannot depose.
To the Interrogatories given in 26th May 1653 [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first and second Interrogatories he saith and deposeth that all
the exportation of plate bullion and money without license be prohibited,
prohibition this Rendent beleiveth is commonly talked of and beleiveth
Masters of shipps and others trading att Cadize and other Ports of Spayne
contrary to the sayd prohibition is not confiscat nor doe the Owners [?any]
proprietors of the saime loose their propriety of in and to the saime [?]
and unlesse the sayd money plate or bullion be apprehended in [?th}
Parts of Spaine. And this he saith is commonly held and beleiveth
so practised. And otherwise he cannot depose.

servant to Don Antonio da Ponte aged [?twenty three]
yeares or thereabouts. a witnes sworne and
examined.
To the first Article of the sayd allegation he saith and deposeth that [?XX]
Lorenzo da Veles merchant of Cadize in Spaine, whom this deponent [?ZZZ]
know for three yeares now past, in the monethes arlate was and att present
is the lawfull Owner and so accounted of twenty baggs of peices of eight
marked with the marke in the margent, each bagg conteining two
[MARKE, LHS]
peices of eight of Peru money, this deponent being present when [?]
them att Cadize and assistant to him in the carrying of them aboard [?the]
sayd shipp the Salvador, and having likewise seene the sayd money
and putt into the sayd baggs. And he further saith that the arlate
and Andrea Hannekaert (who are Inhabitants of Antwerpe as [?]
hath credibly heard) were in the monethes arlate and att present are [?]
and lawfull owners of four baggs of peices of eight arlate [?marked]
