the marke in the margent. the reason of this deponents knowledge is for that
he this deponent saw the sayd Lorenzo att Cadize aforesayd buy the same, for the
use and Accompt of the arlate Pedro and Andrea, this deponent likewise seeing
the sayd money [?teld] and putt into the sayd four baggs videlicet two hundred
peices of eight Peru money in each bagg. And otherwise he cannot depose.

To the second he saith that in the month of September aforesayd and about the
beginning thereof as this deponent remembreth. the sayd Laurence de Veles
laded about the shipp Salvador Christian Cloppenburgh Master the sayd
twenty four baggs of pieces of eight each bagg havving in it two hundred
pieces as aforsayd and marked as aforsayd; twenty of the sayd baggs
to and for the proper Accompt of him the sayd Develes, and four of them to
and for the Accompt of the arlate Pedro and Andrea [?Hannikgert], all
of them to be delivered att Oostend whither the sayd shipp was then bound
and there to be delivered to the sayd Lorenzo de Veles for the respective Accompts
above specified, all which this deponent knoweth for that he this deponent
did assist the sayd Lorenzo in carrying the sayd money aboard, and was
present when the same was laden and heard the discourse and [?passayes]
betweene the sayd Lorenzo and the Master of the shipp; And saith that his this
deponents [?maister] and precontest Don Antonio de Ponte, and Roderigo Alonzo
were then aboard and saw and observed the same as he beleiveth. And
otherwise he cannot depose.

To the third he saith that after the sayd baggs were laden aboared the Master
of the sayd shipp Christian Cloppenbergh in the presence of this deponent
and his precontest Don Antonio signed there bills of ladeing for the sayd
money all of one tenor, but the particular tyme he remembreth not. And saith
that the sayd Cloppenbergh after he had signed them delivered all of
them to the sayd Lorenzo de Veles, but whether any of them were delivered
back againe to the sayd Clopenbergh this deponent saith he cannot depose. And
further saith that having bene now showed a bill of ladeing abiding in
the Registry of this Court he beleiveth by the marke in the margent
thereof (being the saime wherewith he well remembreth the sayd baggs
were marked) that the saime is one of the sayd three originall bills of
Ladeing which this deponent saw the sayd Cloppenbergh signe as is
aforesayd. And otherwise he cannot depose.

To the fourth he saith that after the [?premisse] videlicet in the moneth of October
last past the sayd shipp departed from Cadize and with the sayd baggs
of money aboard her sayled towards Oostend till after her commeing
into the Downes, and there riding att an Anchor she was seized by a frigatt
of the Commonwealth. this deponent being aboard the Sampson as a
passenger att the tyme of the sayd seizure, [?which] Shipp Sampson was
with the arlate Salvador then likewise taken and surprized. And saith
that by meanes of the sayd seizure the arlate money as this deponent beleiveth
came to the possession of the Takers and was by them afterwards together
with the sayd shipp brought into the River of Thames as is arlate. And
otherwise he cannot depose.

To the fifth and sixth he saith that the arlate Lorenzo de Veles who aded the
sayd money now Claymed was as this deponent hath heard borne in Dunkirke
and hath for many yeares now past as this deponent hath likewise credibly
heard lived with his family att Cadize and traded as a Merchant betweene
Spaine and the Indies this deponent having for three yeares now past
knowne him so to doe. And to him the sayd Lorenzo would and should the sayd
twenty [?four]
