sayd Paulas Cobrisse, and hath heard his sayd precontests speake and declare
to the same or to the like effect And otherwise cannot depose.
To the Crosse Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]
To the 1. negatively.
To the 2. 3. 4. 5.and 6 he saith he hath knowne the sayd Paulus Cobrisse 12 yeares and
upwaards. and the said Pedro Calvo 7 or eight yeares by correspondencyes. and saith he
was not att Cadiz the voyage in question, nor saw the sayd sylver laden nor bills of
Lading for the same signed. and further saving his foregoeing depositions
cannot depose.
To the 7th he saith that the bill of lading interrate was as he beleiveth and is
erroneous as to the party to whose Accompt the sayd sylver therein entred. and
otherwise saving his foregoeing depositions cannot depose.
To the 8th he saith he cannot depose.
To the 9th he saith he beleiveth that Pedro Calvo did lade the said sylver and
otherwise cannot depose.
To the 10th he saith he beleiveth the sayd John Martins or his purser did signe
the foresayd bills of lading for the sayd sylver and otherwise cannot depose
To the 11th Interrogatory negatively to every part thereof
To the 12th . 13th and 14th. Interrogatories he saith
that Pedro Calvo who this Respondent
understands to be the principall lader of this sylver now claymed is the factor
of the Producent and hath as he beleiveth generall Order to remitt
the proceed of the producents goods in plate by convenient shipping. And
further saith that the sayd Pedro Calvo had divers effects in his hands of great
value of the manu facture of England sent to him by this Respondent from this
Port of London in severall shipps to Cadiz for the producents Accompt
that is to say 29 bales of Norwich stuffs, bayes, perpetuances and some
worsted stockins of the Cleare value of 2462 li. 1 s. 10 d laden
aboard the Sampson of Hamburgh Otto George Master about the month of
September. 1648. And 21 bales more of bayes and 6 trunks of
stockins of the value of 2476 li. 14 s. 8 d. sterling laden aboard the
Culpepper John Thomas Commander about the month of October 1648.
and 25. bales more of the stuffs and bayes of the value of 2222. li
16 s. 7 d sterling laden about January 1649. put aboard the shipp Confidence
Thomas Crowder Commander, and the rest aboard the Maydenhead James
Lutton Commmander. A Particular whereof faithfully extracted out of
this deponents Leiger he hath fomerly left in the Registry of
this Court videlicet upon his examination in the producents Clayme
for his sylver moneys in the Sampson. Otto George Master And
otherwise cannot depose.
To the 15th negatively.
To the 16th he saith he was borne and liveth in this Citty of London
and otherwise negatively. having neither relation to the producent nor
any manner of interest in the sayd sylver or goods.
To the .17th. he saith he hath heard that the sayd sylver was bought or
procured in the Indies by his procentest John de Losa Barona by and with
the proceed of the foresaid English manufactures. but saith he saw not
the said sylver bought. and further otherwise than negatively cannot depose
To the 18. 19. 20. and 21th. he saith he knoweth nothing thereof
To the 22. and 23th. he saith he beleiveth the sayd bill of lading to the allegation
annexed was brought to this Citty from Bridges by the producent, and further saving
as aforsaid cannot depose
