Transcription

The 30th of May 1651.

The personall answers of Michael
Yardley made to certayne articles of
contempte ministred unto him
and Susan Allen.

To the first article he answereth and beleiveth
he doth not knowe nor hath heard what
causes or whether any of the clauses arlate are proper to be [?toyed] and
adiudged in this Court of Admiraltye,
neither doth he
knowe what to beleeive in this behalfe./

To the second hee answereth and beleiveth
that in the 20th yeare of the
Raigne of Charles deceased and not since the
arlate Susan Allen did cause the
arlate Henry Bushell to be arrested
at her suite at Commonlawe for seaven
sixteenth parts of one hundred nyneth
six chaldron of Coales taken in to
the arlate shipp called the Henry and James
(whereof the sayd Bushell was master) in the
river of Newcastle, and afterwards brought
to London and there Landed and disposed of
by the sayd Bushell, and hee
further answeareth, and beleiveth that about
nyne yeares since the arlate Susan Allen
her husband deceased beinge indebted to this rendent
in a bond of fiftye pounds for the payment
of thirty pounds this rendent did after the
death of her sayd husband sue the sayd
Susan and obtayned a iudgment against her
for part of the sayd debts and thereuppon the sayd
Susan made a letter of attorney to this deponent
to foe on with and prosequute the
suite commenced by her against the sayd
Bushell at Common Lawe, for the sayd debts
in her name but to this rendents owne
use, and accordingly this rendent did by vertue
of the sayd letter of attorney goe on with
and prosequute the sayd cause against the
sayd Bushell and in the yeare 1650 arlate
obteyned a iudgment against him for the sayd
Coales
