Transcription

Ad dra Interria rendet That hee hath knowne and sailed in the Interrate ship the
Seaven Starres Paul [?Speices] Skipper for about a yeere last and
came first onboard her at Memblick in Holland and
saith that the said ship is a Dutch ship and is good prize for hee saith that shee
belongeth to subjects of the United Provinces living in Middleborow in
Zealand, and the said ship is called the 7 Starrs of Middleborowe and saith that
hee this deponent and one more of her Company are of Norway all the rest of the
said shipps Company are Dutch, subjects of the United Provinces, and saith that the said
shipp was met with by an English ffrigot on yesterday was sennight
from which frigot they endeavoured to Escape by flying, and alsoe by fighting
and fought her above four howers and shott many gunns at the said frigot
and as the Gunner of the Seaven Starrs sayd they fired threescore and ten at her
but the Master being killed and one of her Company qounded the Masters Mate
cryed Quarter, and soe they were taken and saith that the said shipp Seaven Starrs
had then a Commission from Holland onboard to take the English but shee never tooke that he knoweth
of but one Ship which was a Scotchman bound to the Indias
Out of which they tooke some Provisions and soe let her goe and this was done
about eight dayes before the Seaven Starrs was taken and as hee was coning
from Bourdeaux which was the last Port that shee was at before seizure where
shee tooke in Wine and Brandywine which was to be delivered at Middleborowe
for the account of Dutch men Subjects of the said States, but the names of them
hee knoweth not, nor the name of the Lader, but hee [?saw] that hee was a Dutchman and
liveth at Middleborowe and went from Bourdeaux overland there And
further saith that when the said ship was seized shee had three Anchors two Cables one of which is very good
and some good Sailes and some old ones and good rigging and saith that the said time
of her seizure shee had betweene Decks about Ninety nine
[?peeces] of Brandy and nothing els but Provisions, et alr nescit

Ad dia Interria rendet That hee knewe not the ship Interrate the Seaven
Starrs Paul Spencer late Master before her being at Bourdeaux [?last] voyage where hee imbarqued himselfe to goe as a passenger in hher to Middleborowe and
saith that there shee was that voyage laden by his this deponents [?said] Master
Adrian Runsdink then being at Bourdeaux but living at Middleborowe in
Zealand where his father liveth and the said Adrian Runsdink is now
gone overland thither, and saith that hee laded the ship upon the account of
subjects of the United Provinces living in Zealand and the said ship was
really bound to Middleborowe in Zealand and there was to deliver her said lading
which consited of about fourscore or fourscore and ten peeces of Brandy
and about 140 or 150 Tonnes of wine which the said ship had
on board her at her seizure and saith that all or mmost of the said Brandy was
betweene decks and saith that her said seizure happened on fryday [?XXX]
of this month old stile and was made by one of the frigott of his Majesty of
England which [?the ?said] Seaven Starrs opposed and fought with for the Space of about foure
howers, and fired gunns as fast as shee could at her, and fired at least
thirty or fourty at her as hee judgeth, but the Master being killed and one of his
company wounded they fired but a fewe funns
at her afterwards but submitted, And saith that the said ship had [?then] in her about three
