Text formatting
The MarineLives transcription platform is built on MediaWiki, which uses wiki markup to format text. Adding footnotes
- Go into edit mode
- Insert immediately after the sentence or phrase you wish to annotate the following macro:<ref>This is the footnote text</ref>
- Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
- Save the page

ficit et deponit prout sequitur videlicet./
Ad primum rendent That the said shipp Seaven Starrs (Paulus Spencer master)
doth belong to Middleborowe in Zealand and there her Owners live but
hee knoweth not their names, and saith that the last port that shee was
at before shee was taken was Bourdeaux, whence shee came laden with
wine and brandy and was bound to Middleborowe, This hee knoweth being the Cooke of the
sayd ship et alr nescit.
