went thence in her to Scanderon, in which passage hee was about foure
or five dayes aboard her. And otherwise hee cannot answer saving as
aforesaid.
To the third 4 and 5th hee saith that Roger ffowke
is a factor at Cyprus, and otherwise negatively
for hisd part, for hee was not then and there present.
To the 6th hee hath not soe deposed, and
therefore it concerneth him not.
To the 7th hee saith hee well knoweth the interrogate Richard
Chewne, and saith that the shipp the Thomas Bonadventure in
question comming consigned to the said Chewne and company factors
at Alleppo, hee the said Chewne was a factor for the producents
concerning her lading at Scanderone, And saith the said Richard is
brother to henry Chewne one of the freighters and parties in this
sute, And saith the factors interrogated at Legorne, Cyprus, and Aleppo
are not in partnershipp, but those of Aleppo act a part
from those at Cyprus and Ligorne, and they of Ligirbe
are alsoe apart, And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving
as aforesaid.
To the 8. 9 and 10 hee hath not soe deposed./
To the 11th hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.
To the 12th hee saith hee is brother to ffrancis ffowke one of
the producents, And otherwise negatively.
To the 13th hee hath not soe deposed.
To the 14th hee cannot answer for hee was not then there.
To the last hee cannot depose.
To the Interrogatories in the second place. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first and second hee cannot depose as hee saith saving as aforesaid.
To the third hee saith the interrogated William ffowke is brother to
this deponent and to ffrancis ffoweke interrogated, and that Roger
ffowke ar Cyprus is alsoe their brother, And otherwise negatively
referring himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, and saving the same.
To the fourth hee saith that the passage for shipps from
Cyprus for England hath for many yeares bin dangerous in
regard of Tripoli and ffrench men of warr, and that they have
taken diverse English and other shipps in those seas within theise
seaven yeares last, And otherwise hee cannot depose saving as
aforesaid.
Toi the fifth hee saith it is noe prudence for a master of a
shipp to say for convoy or otherwise contrary to the order of
his imployers, nor did hee ever heare of any shipp (before the
Thomas Bonadventure) that staid in port in those parts after
her being readie, through feare of Tripoli or ffrench men of
warr or to looke or waite for convoy unlesse her master had order soe to
doe from his imployers. And otherwise hee cannot answer.
