weight, and the masters or pursers of such shipps upon which goods
are there laden, ought by the custome of those parts, to see them
weighed and to take notice of the said weight, the masters being (as
hee saith they are) answerable by weight for the said goods soe received aboard,
according to the weight expressed in the bills of lading, or in the Invoice.
And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the fourth article of the said allegation of 17 articles hee saith and deposeth
that in and for all the time arlate the usuall freight of goods by
the tonne from Cyprus to London, was for grosse goods as Cotton woolls
at and after the rate of 6 li per tonne, of Galls 4 li per tonne
and of peace goods and smaller commodities at and after the rate
of seaven pounds per tonne, and this hee saith is publique and
notorious, which hee knoweth because this deponent both received and
paid freight according to those rates for such goods comming from those
parts within the said time. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the eighth hee saith that hee hath heard merchants who have
received goods from Porto fferara or legorne within the time arlate
say and affirme that the freight of such goods as are arlate was
after the rates arlate for the transport of them thence to this port
And otherwise hee cannot depose.
Upon the rest of the articles of this allegation hee is not examined
by direction of the producent/
Upon the allegation of fourtie five articles with

To the 6th article hee saith and deposeth that each kintall maketh
an hundred Rotulo's, and every Rotolo is foure pounds and thirteene
ounces Aver du pois English weight, soe that two
hundred fiftie two kintalls and 26 Rotolos and 44 kintalls and eight
Rotolos of Cotton wooll make in all 296 kintalls, and 34 Rotolos,
which hee knoweth being a merchant dealing in such commodities, and
well acquainted with the wights the thereof and of other things mentioned
in this allegation, and with the computation by kintalls and Rotolo's
having longe lived a merchant at Aleppo. And otherwise hee
cannot depose.
To the 7th hee saith that 296 kintalls and 34 Rotolos of Cotton
woolls, make English weight one hundred fourtie two thousand
six hundred and thirteene pounds and a halfe, which hee knoweth
for the reasons aforesaid. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the eighth article hee saith and deposeth that foure hundred
and seaventie baggs of galls containe or make thirtie
thousand
