and saith that since the dutch warr namely within theise two
yeares last there hath bin more freight paid homewards than
6 li sterling per tonne for Cottons, 4 li for gawles, and 7 li for fine goods,
by meanes that shipps have bin constrained to be extraordinarily
manned. And otherwise saving as aforesaid hee cannot answer.
Upon the rest hee is not interrogated by the direction of the
partie Interrogant.

The claime of the said Andrew Rand}
for tenn chests of sugar in the Nostra Seniora}
de Rosario aforesaid.}

Augustin Corronell of Mark lane
London Marchant, aged 28 yeares or
thereabouts sworne and examined.
To the first, second and third articles of the said allegation hee saith and
deposeth that hee well knoweth the producent Captaine Andrew
Rand and well knoweth and for a yeare last hath well knowne
the allate George Wheeler, and that hee correspondeth with
Belchier vas Ribero mentioned in the declaration in Portuguese
annexed to the said allegation, and well knoweth and is acquainted with
the firme of the said Wheeler and Ribero, and having nowe
perused the bill of lading and declaration annexed, hee findeth
and is well assured that the said bill of lading was and is
signed with the proper hand of the said Wheeler and Belchier
vas Ribero, and hee verily beleeveth the contents of the said
bill of lading and declaration to be true, and that the producent
Captaine rand had tenn chests of sugar really laden at Bahia aboard
the shipp the Nostra Seniora arlate to be carried to Portugall
for his accompt, and hee is the more confirmed in the said
beleefe having alsoe seene and having nowe with him a letter
sent from Bahia from the said vas Ribero to Lisbone to Jaques Lagan dated the
20th of August 1650, purporting and declaring the said tenn
chests of white sugar to be laden for the said Captaine Rand,
which letter with a translation thereof hee leaveth for the information
of this Court, And well knoweth as hee saith the same to be alsoe
firmed by the said vas Ribero. And otherwise hee cannot depose

To the Interrogatories hee saith hee knoweth not the said shipp the
Nostra Seniora da Rosario, nor was in the voyage in question nor
knoweth ought thereof, and therefore cannot depose thereto
otherwise than as aforesaid, saying hee hath noe interest at all
in this businesse.
