To the 8th article hee saith in the sayd schedule which the sayd purser gave
this deponent to translate as aforesayd and also in the translate (sic) thereof made by this deponent as aforesayd there was and is mention made
that (besides the 195 chests belonging to the sayd Zollicoffers and Scrothering)
there were on board the sayd shipp at her seizure 40 chests of soape
for the Accompt of the sayd shipps Company, and a smale parcell of
ffustick wood used for stowage of goods and other goods consigned to other persons And further hee cannot depose
To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true/
To the Crosse Interrogatories/ [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first hee saith hee is a native of Saint Gallo in Switzerland
where he hath resided the greatest part of his life, saving hee saith
hee hath lived in England in the parish of great Allhallowes London for these 12 months last past and better, and
for about 6 yeares next before that in ffrance, somtymes at Marselles
and somtymes at Lyons, and before that at Saint Gallo during all the rest of the
tyme Interrogate, and was not in the shipp Interrogate at her seizure, nor belongeth
to her, and hath noe share nor interest in the sayd shipp nor goods now
claymed, and saith hee is a factor and Correspondent to all the producents
and of Kinne a farr of to the Zollicoffers, but soe farr of as hee
knoweth not how to derive it, saving hee saith the father of Joachim, Lawrence
and david Zollicoffer was brother to this respondents Grandfather And
further hee cannot answere/
To the 2 Interrogatorie hee saith hee hath well knowne all the Zollicoffers
Interrogate, ever since hee was able to remember any thing, And the
Interrogate Langerman and Scrothering hee hath nowe knowne for these seaven yeares last past
And saith the sayd Langerman and Scrothering live and have lived
with their families ever since hee knew them at hamburgh, and all the
Zollicoffers have their families resident at Saint Gallo aforesayd where
they live for the most part only travailing to and fro to other forraigne
parts as their affaires requireth And further hee cannot answere
To the third hee saith the shipp Interrogate was bought in manner predeposed
by this deponent in the behalfe of the parties Interrogate, and soe paid for
her to one ffelix [?Bonnowe] a ffrench,an seaven thousand one hundred
french Livers, and the sayd Bonnowe made a Bill of sale thereof
Under his hand and seale to the sayd Joachim Lawrence and david Zollicoffer
by name and their company not nameing therein (that hee remembreth) the
sayd Langerman, And hee this deponent well knoweth (being the party
who bought the same) that the samw was bought only for the sayd
Zollicoffers and Langerman their owne use really and not in trust for any other and without fraude nor
not for any subiect of the ffrench King And further hee cannot
answere./
