their severall proportions thereof and this deponent as one of
them and further hee cannot answere./

To the 12th hee answereth negatively

To the 13th hee saith hee knoweth not for certaine whether the damage
predeposed of be repayred, nor in case the same be did hee see any
money paid for the sayd repayres. And further hee cannot answere/

To the 14th hee saith hee lnoweth that the Exeter Marchant hath bin
graved since the tyme Interrogated, which shee must have bin, though shee had
receaved noe damage by the meanes of the Master and Company of the
ffrancis and Mary And further hee cannot answere

To the last hee saith hee hath satisfied the contents thereof before/

Examined upon the sayd allegation./

John Johnson of Lymehouse in the parish of
Stepney Mariner aged thirty three yeares or thereabouts
a witnes sworne and examined saith and deposeth
as followeth videlicet,/

To the first article of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee this deponent
was Boatswaine of the arlate Shipp the Exeter Merchant in her last
voyage, which shee began from this Port of London about the moneth of
June or July 1654 and saith that then the arlate Roger hatton
and others his Company were commonly reputed the true and lawfull
Owners and Proprietors of the sayd shipp her tackle apparrell and
furniture And soe still are reputed And that the arlate Thomas Woodfin
during the sayd tyme was and went Master and Commander of her during
the sayd voyage and still is Master of her, and was made Master of her by
the sayd Mr hatton and other her Owners (as hee this deponent beleeveth)
And saith hee hath knowne the sayd Woodfin only since about June or July
1654 and hath in the sayd voyage observed that hee the sayd Woodfin
did caarefully and well performe his office of Master of the sayd vessell
like an able and expert seaman, and for an able and experienced Seaman
the sayd Woodfin is commonly reputed And further hee cannot depose/

To the second third and 5th articles of the sayd allegation hee saith and deposeth that
the sayd shipp the Exeter Merchant in or about the ffirst of May last
returned from Zant and Cadiz to this port of London with a ladeing of
Currance and Varina Tobaccoe, and the sayd Thomas Woodfin being
then arrived in the River of Thames endeavoured to bring her to an Anchor
