or words to the like effect And further to this article hee cannot
depose/

To the Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith hee was none of the Mariners of the shipp the
hopefull Adventure./

To the 2: 3: 4th 5th and 6th Interrogatories hee saith for that hee is none of the sayd shipps
Company hee cannot answere to nor knoweth ought touching the matters Interrogate And
further cannot answere./

To the seaventh hee saith hee was one who did search for, and see the Leake Interrogate and
saith the same was a great leake, and soe great that all the company of the sayd
Shipp hopefull Adventure could not possibly have kept her above water if
the same had not bin found and amended, And further hee cannot answere
saving his foregoeing deposition./

To the 8th hee saith that hee haveing gone many voyages to sea as a shipp
Carpenter, knoweth that it is the custome for Mariners when they are at
sea upon a voyage to sounde the pumpe and pumpe, and somtymes pumpe and not sounde once in two howers if they knowe
their shipp have any defect otherwise not in fower or somtymes eight howers
according to the tightnesse of the shipp and fayrenesse of the weather at sea, but saith
if a shipp be in harbour then they doe not usually sound the pumpe nor
pumpe her soe often except they knowe her to be leakie in harbour, for
that a shipp often tymes at Sea by reason of her labouring, and her weaknes
may be leakie at Sea and yet tight when shee cometh in harbour this hee
knoweth by experience being a shipp Carpenter and haveing observed soe much
by divers very good shipps Merchantmen wherein hee hath gone as
Carpenter And further to this Interrogatorie hee cannot answere/

To the 9th hee cannot answere not knowing or haveing heard ought touching
the matters Interrogate nor being any of the Company of the Shipp Interrogate./

To the 10th hee saith that for that hee was one who searched for and
mended the sayd leake, hee knoweth that the same was soe great that
after the same once sprange and appeared the Company of
the hopefull Adventure could not have kept the goods
on board her drom damage if the pumpe had stood still but [?one GUTTER]
halfe hower at any tyme till the same was mended, and further
saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot answere/

To the 11th hee cannot answere being none of the sayd shipps
Company nor having heard what the dammage Interrogate amounteth
to,/
