Transcription

To the fourth Interrogatorie hee saith that the sugars that were
aboard the said shipp before and when the said hurricane or tempest
happened, and which were to that quantitie (in his iudgement) of
tenn tonnes as aforesaid, were laden for the proper accompt of the
said Percivall Gilbert, and were really and truely belonging unto him
as his owne proper goods as this deponent understood both by the
affirmation of James Abby who put them aboard and otherwise,
saith that the hogsheads and other casks wherein the same were laden, were
marked P.G. all which hee knoweth being present and seeing the
said goods soe laden, and helping to stowe the same. And otherwise
hee cannot depose, saying hee doth not remember the
[?iust] number of hogsheads and other caskes wherein the said sugars
soe laden for Mr Gilberts accompt were contained.

To the fifth hee saith that the said three tonnes of beer
and eight puncheons of brandewine that were alsoe cast
away in the said shipp as aforesaid, were alsoe the proper
goods of the said Percivall Gilbert, who laded the same
aboard her at the Cowes as his owne goods, and were not
landed at the Barbada's by reason the store house was
soe full of sugars and other commodities that there was noe
room for them; And otherwise hee cannot depose, saying that
hee cannot estimate the valew either of the said sugars, brandewines
and beere of the said producent soe cast away, or of the sugars
that were provided and readie and intended to be laden for
him.

To the sixth hee saith that hee verily beleeveth in his conscience
that besides the said goods soe laden for and lost to the said
producent, hee the said producent Percivall Gilbert, in the
leaving of the other goods at the Barbada's that were provided and not laded
(by reason of the said shipps casting away) hath suffered very
greate losse and dammadge, whereas had the said storme not
happened, nor the said shipp cast away, the said goods soe
provided had bin laded, and they and those that were cast
away as aforesaid,
would in all probabilitie have come safe to
England. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
