making up of this contract or bargaine between the said
humphrey holland John hill as Owners and Proprietors of
the said shipp, and this deponent and others who tooke the
said shipp to freight for the voyage allegate, the said John
Bewly did undertake for his particular [?part] the quantity of
forty five Tonns in the said shipp at the rate of 4 li 18 s per Tonne The premisses he
well knoweth because he was present, and saw the said
Bewley (which was alsoe done by the rest of the ffreighters)
subscribe unto a wryting drawne up in reference to a
Charterpartie, The contents and particulars wherof he doth
well remember soe farr as hee hath here deposed And
further he cannot depose.
To the fourth, fifth and sixth articles he cannot depose
saving that he this deponent hath payd the money due from
him for his part of the Tonnage of the said shipp according
to the contract or bargaine made./
To the seaventh he referreth himselfe to the Registry of this
Court And further he cannot answeare.
To the eighth article he cannot depose.
To the last he sayth his former deposition is true.
To the Interrogatoryes. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first Interrogatory he answereth that he commeth to testify
at the request of Mr Rowland hill, and that he is noe
wayes interessed in the cause of shipp And to the rest he
answereth negatively.
To the second Interrogatory he answereth that one John hill
a brother of Mr Umphry hill deceased did treat with this
Rendent and the rest of the freighters of the interrate shipp
the Swan, ant that he this Rendent and some others of the
said freighters did alsoe goe unto the said Umphry hill and
with him did conclude and agree upon the taking of the
said shipp to freight at the rate of 4 li 18 s per Tonne
and that every freighter should particularize for how many Tonns he
would take of the sayd shipp and that accordingly a writing
was drawne up at the three Cranes in the Poultrey where
the said Bewley and this Rendent were, and where the
said Bewley did in this Rendents sight subscribe and undertake
for forty five Tonns in the said shipp at the rate of 4 li 18 s
per Tonne, And further he cannot answere.
To the third, fourth and fifth Interrogatoryes he cannot answere.

Examined upon an allegation given in the 6th
of July 1655 in the behalfe of the sayd Thompson
and Company./

Thomas Bomer of the parish of Saint Katherine neere the
Tower London Mariner aged 25 yeares or thereabouts
a witnes sworne and examined saith and deposeth as
followeth videlicet
To the first 2: 3 4th and 5th articles of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee this deponent was
one of the Company and a foremast man and on board of the shipp or vessell arlate
