To the Crosse Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first hee saith hee knoweth none of the Companie of the shipp the
hare in the field interrate, save onely her Master John kein, whom hee
saw once or twice, as hee remembreth at havre de Grace and never before
and saith the said kein is commonly accompted a Middleburgher and a
Subject of the Lords the States of the United Netherlands.
To the 2d hee is not examined by direction of the partie ministrant
To the third hee saith, hee knoweth none of the Laders of the goods in
Controversie./
To the fourth hee saith hee knoweth none of the persons interrate to whom
the goods in controversie belong, not knowing for whom they or any of
them werre laden./
To the fifth hee saith hee was in ffrance and particularly at havre de
Grace since the seizure of the shipp and goods in question, and knoweth
not otherwise then as aforesaid when the said seizure was made, not
being present thereat:-

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith, That hee knoweth not any of the shipps
Companie of the shipp the hare interrate, excepting John kein the
Master of the said shipp, whom hee first saw at havre de Grace and saw him last there about
two moneths since, where hee was reputed a Middleburgher and a Subject of
the State of the United Netherlands, and saith, That his shipps Company
were there generally given out for Zealanders/
To the second hee is not interrogated by direction of the partie ministrant:/
To the third and 4th hee saith hee knoweth nothing of the laders of the goods in question
nor to whom the same belong, nor whose subjects either the said laders or Owners are
To the 5th hee saith, That hee this rendent was at haver de Grace in
ffrance, when the shipp the hare in question received, as predeposed, part of
her lading, and continued there after the said shipp went to sea and was taken
and knoweth not the precise time of the said shipps seizure, for that hee
was not present at the same:-/

East in the Citie of London Merchant aged 34
yeares or thereabouts a Wittnes sworne and examined
saith and declareth as followeth videlicet/
To the said Libell and sewerall positions therein conteined hee saith and
deposeth, That hee this deponent having been severall yeares a Merchant
and resident in the Parts of Spaine and particularly at Mallega
well knoweth, That by the Custome and Constitution of the Country
