The same day Examined upon the said Allegation:-/ [CENTRE HEADING]

of the shipp the Saint George of Amsterdam aged 42
yeares or thereabouts a Wittnesse sworne and examined
saith as followeth videlicet
To the first hee saith, That hee this deponent did not see the shipp the hare in
the field arlate when shee lay at or neere havre de Grace in france
before the time of her late seizure, but saith hee there heard, that shee went
from thence upon her last voiage before shee was seized by the English, and
saith hee knoweth not what Countreiemen shee had on board her:-/
To the second hee saith, hee this deponent did not see the lading of the said shipp
and therefore cannot depose when or where or with what goods shee was
laden, otherwise then that hee was informed at havre de Grace that shee was
laden at a place called the horq about a leagie distant from havre, And
further cannot depose, saving this deponent heard at havre, that the goods
laden aboard the shipp had been brought from Roane,/
To the third hee saith hee knoweth not of any bills of lading (as is arlate)
brought into the Registry of this Court, nor what is therein contained
nor the qualities of the goods laden aboard the said shipp, nor by whom or
whose Subjects the same were laden:-
To the 4th hee saith hee referreth himselfe to the Acts and proceedings of
the Court, And further cannot depose:-/
To the 5th and 6th hee saith hee knoweth nothing thereof not being present
at the seizure in question:-
To the 7th hee saith, hee knoweth not the precise time of the said shipps seizure
by the English, but hath heard that it was upon the 16th or 17th day of May last
new style. And saith that not long after the said seizure, it was reported
at havre that the said John Kein had sent a letter from England importing that
his said shipp and lading were seized and brought into England (which letter
this deponent saith hee never sawe, nor knoweth any thing of the Contents
thereof) neither did hee ever heare any person or persons of that place of
havre de Grace say or declare that they had suffered a great losse by meanes
of the said shipps seizure nor [?beine ?and] themselves concerning the same, nor said
that the said John kein had writt any letter or letters into England to betray
the ffrench, nor that if they could come at him, they would hang or
imprison him, nor any words or expressions to that or the like effect as in
this article is alleadged. The premisses hee declareth to bee true upon his oath
and salvation, And otherwise cannot depose:-/
To the 8th hee saith, hee this examinate did not heare at Roane or havre de
Grace of any such report as is in, and by this article alleadged, neither
knoweth hee, nor did there heare of any such other shipp as is alleadged to
bee laden with french goods, and afterwards dischardged and not sett forth after
the newes of the seizure of the said shipp the hare./
To the 9th hee referreth himselfe to the Lawe of Nations allate, and to the
Lawes of this Land and proceedings of this Court, And further cannot depose
