poste and her quarter and splitt her boate all to peeces in manner as
is hereadter declared the premisses hee deposeth being in a wherrie not
farr from the shipps the Blessing and helpewell when the premisses
were done and happened and being an eye and eare witnesse thereof And further
to these articles hee cannot depose/

To the 5th hee saith that hee well remembreth that it was neere about high
water videlicet the water newly turned, or yonge ebb, when the sayd shipp the
Blessing cast Anchor, And saith the Company of the helpewell might in this deponents Judgment if
they would easily have kept cleere of the Blessing and avoided her if they would have
borne up one foote and a halfe or two foote at most the premisses hee deposeth
for the reason afore expressed being in a boate and seeing the premisses. And
further hee cannot depose hee this deponent not being a Sea man and soe not
knowing whether the Blessing could have sheered or noe to have avoided
the helpewell./

To the 6th 7th and 8th articles of the sayd libell hee saith that by reason
the shipp helpewell fell fowle of the Blessing shee ran her Anchor
first into the Quarter of the Blessing, and brake her Quarter, and the same
being forced off thence the sayd Anchor caught hold of the Blessings
sterne post and brake it alsoe, and the shipps being by that
meanes drawne close togeather the helpewell splitt the Blessings
longe boate into severall peeces some whereof hee this deponent tooke
up swimming in the river of Thames And hee alsoe saith the sayd shipp Helpewell by such her falling fowle did force and stretch the Blessings Cable, and drave the Blessing from her mooreings all which dammage as this deponent
verily beleeveth and is in his conscience perswaded, happened by the
wilfullnes or negligence of the helpewells Company, for that as is
predeposed hee veriy well knoweth that if they had borne up but one foote and
a halfe or two foote at the most they had passed cleere of the Blessing without
doeing her any preiudice, the premisses hee deposeth for the reason aforesayd
being an eye witnes and seeing the same out of a wherry wherein hee was as
aforesayd, And as to the value of the damages predeposed hee saith hee
is not skillfull in the values of such things as were damnified, and therefore
cannot estimate them And further hee cannot depose

To the 9th hee cannot depose./

To the rest hee is not examined by direction of the producent./

To the Interrogatories/ [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee cometh to testifie the truth of his knowledge
in this cause being soe requested to doe by the sayd John Biggs And to the
rest of the sayd Interrogatorie hee answereth negatively

To the second Interrogatorie hee saith that the Company of the Blessing did doe
their endeavour to avoide receiving any damage by or doeing any damage
to the Helpewell by calling and crying out to the Helpewells company
longe before they came neere the Blessing which was all the Blessings company could doe to avoide
it
