Commonwealth together with this deponent and six others of her company
whoe were continually before and at the time of the said seizure by the
said Callard, andafterwards till shee was taken by the Saphire, and
this deponent was Gunner of her, and went Gunner of her from
Amsterdam to the Canaries, and continued Gunner aboard till the
time of the said seizure. And saith that after the bringing the said
shipp the Saint Mary and her lading by the Saphire frigot into Plimouth,
the Captaine of the Saphire tooke this deponent and his said sixe
companions that were of the Saint Maries company, and carried them
out againe to sea in the said frigot, without ever causing any of
their examinations to be taken at Plimouth, and afterwards at sea
meeting with 8 dutch shipps, hee at their request let them goe
aboard them to get passage homewards, and put every one of them
into severall shipps and soe let them goe. And saith that about
tenn dayes since this deponent ariving here in this port, hee
sawe the said shipp the Saint Mary that was soe taken and retaken
as aforesaid lying in the River of Thames and well knewe her
to be the same, and went aboard her, and comming to this citie
hee was here informed that there was sute in the Admiraltie
for her recoverie. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 6th hee saith the said ffrancisco [?lopez] is commonly accompted
a native subiect of the kinge of Spaine, and to be borne in the
Canaries, where hee saith hee dwelleth, namely in Teneriff, and
for such hee was and is commonly accompted , And otherwise hee
cannot depose.
To the 7th hee cannot depose.

To the first hee saith hee was Gunner of the Saint Mary when shee was
seized, and had then belonged about 9 monethes unto her, and that hee
was borne at Genua, and hath lived about three
yeares in holland, and before that for seaven yeares in Savoy, at Tholon, Marseilla and other places thereabouts. And otherwise
negatively saving as aforesaid.
To the second hee saith hee hath knowne the said ffrancisco lopez
only by meeting him this voyage at the Canaries, and his being
aboard the Saint Mary, but doth not knowe the other two claimers
interrogated, And otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.
To the third hee saith hee was not present at the buying of the
said goods, nor knoweth of whom they were bought, nor howe the
said lopez came by them, nor sawe hee any money paid
for them.
To the fourth hee saith the said lopez sent the said goods aboard
and afterwards embarqued himselfe to goe passenger with them, And
that this deponent did not see them in his possession ashore
And otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.
