his owne shipp) laded foure sacks of feathers weighing 520 pounds aboard
the dolphin, garret Martenson master, and brought the rest in his owners
shipp, being thirtie sacks, which hee saith were aboard at the time
of the seizure by the Tyger, and saith that all the foresaid goods soe laden
by him this deponent at bayon doe really and truely belonge to the
foresaid persons the said shipps owners and shipps company as aforesaid
and were really and truely bought with their moneys and the proceede
of [?their] goods, which hee knoweth being the very person that bought and
laded them and sold the outward goods aforesaid of which they proceeded,
and saith the said 30 sacks of feathers soe brought in the said shipp
and seized weighed 3447 pounds, Bayons weight, and that the
foresaid 106 cakes of Rosin contained 9 tonnes and three quarters of
Rosin, or thereabouts, and that the foresaid six hogsheads of turpentine contained
3970 pounds turpentine neate, and this deponent paid readie
money for all the foresaid goods being the proceede as aforesaid, saving
that hee trucked away tenn chests of candles for part of the said
goods, and saith that all the said Rosin, turpentine, oares, corke
wooll, box, and oile were all alsoe aboard at the time of the
seizure by the Tyger frigot in the service of this Commonwealth
and further that all the predeposed goods soe bought and laden by
this deponent were then publiquely knowne and taken notice
of to be (as hee saith the truth is) for the proper account of the
said shipps owners and companie aforesaid, All which hee knoweth
for the reasons aforesaid. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the third hee saith that his Stiersman entred and tooke notice in
his the said Stiersmans booke of all the goods laden for accompt of the
fraighters, but for the goods bought and laden by this deponent
as aforesaid for accompt of his owners, selfe and company hee this
deponent made entrie thereof in his owne booke, without taking any
notice or making any entrie therein of what was laden upon the
said freighters accompt, and this hee saith is true, as
hee is able to make appeare to this Court, And otherwise hee cannot
depose.
To the fourth hee saith that shortly after the said seizure by the
Tyger frigot there were taken and carried away from and out of the
said shipp the Elizabeth by the Tygers company one boate and
foure oares worth tenn pounds sterling, two anchors weighing about
one thousand five hundred weight, worth 30 s per hundred,
as much of the two cables of the said two anchors as amounted to
about one cable, together with two halsers, the said pasrts of cables and
two halsers weighing about 1800 pounds weight, worth 15 s per hundred
amounting to 27 li sterling or thereabouts, And further that of wine
brandewine and provisions which were aboard the said shipp Elizabeth for the
beaveridge and victualls of this rendent and company; the said company of the
Tyger plundred, eate and dranck to the valew of
seaven pounds and sixteene shilings sterling and alsoe tooke away six
or seaven shorts and as many [?bands], a paire of stockings, a perspective
