Transcription

arrived at Newcastle, and that in their passage thitherwards, att
or neere a place called the Well, upon or between the Coasts of Lincolnshire
and Norfolke, in the nigh the said shipp the dove and the William
and James, wherein this deponent served lost sight of each other
but what appened to the arlate Vessell the
Successe, or what injurie or dammage was done to her or by what
shipp or meanes this deponent saith hee knoweth not. And further
cannot depose:-

To the 10th hee saith hee knoweth nothing thereof, nor ever heard
any worde from the said Cable to the effect arlate./

To the rest hee is not examined by direction of the producents./

To the Crosse Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee cometh to declare the trueth of
his knowledge in this Cause at the request of the late Master of the
said Vessell the Successe, And otherwise negatively:-

To the second hee saith hee hath severall times seene the vessell
the dove whereof the interrate Cable was Master but remembreth not
when hee first saw her, nor how often hee hath seene her nor particularly
at what places, saving in the river of Thames, at harwich, armouth
and Newcastle, and hath knowne the interrate Cable about 12. yeares
last past, And further cannot depose./

To the third hee saith hee knoweth nothing thereof/

To the 4th hee saith hee hath not so deposed/

To the 5th negatively, saving his foregoeing deposition to which hee referreth

To the 6th hee saith hee hath not so deposed

To the 7th hee saith, hee never heard that any other shipp or Vessell
was taxed for the dammage in Controversy, saveing the same Vessell the
dove, and saith hee this rendent hath heard the Master of the said Vessell
the Successe severall times say, that the said shipp or Vessell the
dove had over-runn in the Voiage in Controversie the said Vessell
the Successe. And further cannot depose./
