Transcription

Captaine and Mariners made towards dover plyeing their pump[?s]
in hope to preserve themselves, but despairing of the shipp and ladeing
yet it happened that a Pilot comeing from dover by the meanes of a
Cable made fast to a Capstane ashoare did with helpe of men
hale the Angelo Custoda by main force into the harbour of dover
and so preserved her from shippwrack. And saith that the tempest
still continueing she was dashed against [?the ?lands] and receyved
great quantity of water so as she was neere five foot deep
of water in the hold wheereby her lading as afterwards did
appeare were very much damnifyed. And ten of the Mariners
not daring to sayle longer in her fledd away and forsoake her
and it was not possible to gett the sayd shipp for hamburgh
but the sayd Captaine getting the great leakes in some measure
stopt did with much hazard, and continuall pumping gett the
sayd shipp and her lading to this Port of London, and there
did unlade all the goods but the loose brimstone that served for
ballast, and that soone after the sayd vessell sett aground
and [?belayed] herselfe and oversett so as she could not be saved
or raised agayne; she then having about thirty tonns of
brimestone in her. And being veiwed it was in the Judgment
of workmen impossible to raise her, and that she could not be made
serviceable, her keele, bottome and timbers were [?soXXX] broken.
but her tackle and furniture that escaped the being lost att dover and
the sayd loose brimstone with great cost and dammage were preserved
and three Cables and anchors left in the downes were regayned
And further he saith not nor deposeth saving that he was the Cooke
in and on board the sayd shipp the sayd voyage and knoweth
that the premisses were and are true he being an eyewitnes
thereof, and well saw and knoweth that the sayd lading
was very much wett and damnifyed though hee cannot depose
of the certayne value thereof having not heard the same
computed
