A businesse of examination of witnesses}
for the perpetuall remembrances of the matter}
touching the losse of the shipp the Constant}
promoted by Captaine John Cramp and others}
Examined upon an allegation in the
acts of Court made 26 of July
last and certaine exhibits therein
mentioned

James Sadler of London merchant, living in little
More fields in the parish of Saint Giles Cripplegate
aged 34 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined
To the said allegation and the bill of sale therein mentioned, beginning
To all men to whom this present writing shall come I Robert hogg et cetera
and ending thus, Dated the twentith day of ffebruary 1639, and in the fifteenth
yeare of the raigne of our soveraigne Lord king Charles by the grace of God
king of England, Scotland, ffrance and Ireland defender of the saith et cetera
nowe showed unto him at the time of his examination, and by him
perused hee saith and deposeth that on or neare about the day of the sate of the
said bill of sale, namely on or eare about the twentieth
day of ffebruary 1639 hee this deponent was present in this citie
and did see Robert hogge therein mentioned signe seale and for
his act and deede deliver the said bill of sale as nowe thereon appeareth
which being soe by him donne this deponent and Captaine Robert
Moulton (who was then and there alsoe present) as witnesses wrote
theri names on the back of the said bill as nowe therion is to be
seene, and saith the said bill is not in ought altered since the time
aforesaid, which hee knoweth for that the same is wholy of this deponents
hand writing; and saith hee wrote the same by order of the said Robert
hogge and of John Cramp therein mentioned, with both which this deponent
was well acquainted longe before the said time, and in order to
the said sale the said Cramp was of this deponents knowledge put in
possession of the said shipp, And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving
to his remembrance such sealing and deliverie was soe donne in the
house of mr william Courteene in ffanchurch streete London

London wyne cooper aged thirty yeares or thereabouts
a witnes sworne and examined saith as followeth

him att the tyme of his examination thus beginning [To all
Men to whom this present writing shall come I Robert Moulton] and
thus ending [In the fourteenth yeare of the Reigne of our
soveraigne
