Transcription

To the 6th hee saith That the said Edward Peters at this present is an
Inhabitant at Antwerp where he hath lived ever since the yeare 1648
last past, And is a Subject of the King of Spaine, and for such well
knowne and commonly reputed, which hee knoweth for the reasons predeposed
And saith That the said shipps in their Course torwards Ostend (at
this deponent by letters of advise to that purpose well knoweth)were surprized and taken by souie[?] of the
shipps of this Commonwealthe the silver predeposed then being aboard them and
still detained to the very great prejudice of the said producent And further
hee cannot depose

To the last hee saith his foregoing deposition were and are true

To the Crosse Interrogatories

To the first Interrogaterie negatively

To the second hee saith hee hath knowne the interrate Edward Peters for about 6
years last past and the interrate John la motte foure yeares last in person, and
the interrate William Jansen 6 years by Correspondency between him and the
producent. And otherwise cannot depose:-

To the third hee saith the interrate John Lamotte and William Jansen are
ffactors to the producent, but not hee to them, And otherwise hee cannot depose:-

To the 4th: hee saith the producent Edward Peters is an Antwerper borne
John Lamotte of Bridges in fflanders and William Jansen a Hamburgher:
and so commonly accompted, the producent and William Janson married, and
John Lamotte a Batchelor, the two later having lived at Cadiz in Spayne ever
since this Deponent had any knowledge of them, And otherwise then as is prede-
posed hee saith hee cannot depose:-

To the 5. hee referreth to his foregoing deposition And otherwise cannot depose
being at Antwerp when the said silver was laden:-

To the 6: negatively, And otherwise saving his foregoing deposition and the bills of
lading interrate to which hee referreth hee saith hee cannot depose

To the 7th hee referreth to his foregoing deposition, which hee declared to be truley
Vertue[?] of his oath. And further deposeth not.

To the 8. 9. and 10th: hee cannot depose:-

To the 11th: hee saith hee is convinced in Conscience that the severall parcells of silver
now Claymed by the producent, doe really and truely belong to him alone, and
to no other person or persons whatsoever, and beleveth for the reasons predeposed that
the shipps interrate and each of them at the time of their seizure were directly
bound for Ostend, and for no other Port of place whatsoever And otherwise
cannot Depose:-

To the 12th hee saith, the said producent did severall times acquaint this deponent
that hee had severall parcells and quantities of silver to be laden in Spaine for his
owne accompt And otherwise hee cannot depose:/

To the 13th. hee saith, the interrate Edward Peters sent letters to the said John
La Motte William Jansen, and to Peter Lewis his ffactor to lade for his
accompt silver in his returns of his goods sent into Spaine, aboard fflandrian and
(other
