Stanier did send to Cadiz consigned to one of the
producents factors there whose name att present he remembreth not
840. peices of Norwich stuffes. and
ten packes of Bayes amounting in value to the summe of 2720 li
14 s. sterling, and the same were laden att this Port of London on board
the shipp Maydenhead of London Captaine James Lutton Commander
one third part of which stuffes and bayes were for the sole
accompt of the producent Pedro Michaelson, and putt and stated
to and upon his accompt by the sayd James Stanier, in his Bookes
of Accompts which this Rendent hath laetely consulted. which
goods came safe to the hands of the sayd foresayd (sic) factor att Cadiz
as this Rendent hath heard and beleiveth. And otherwise he cannot depose.
To the .15th negatively.
To the 16.th he saith he is a native and an Inhabitant of this City of
London. and otherwise negatively.
To the 17th he saith he was not present att the buying of the sylver in
question and further cannot depose
To the 18. 19. and 20th. and 21th he saith he knoweth nothing thereof.
To the 22. 23. 24. 25. 26. 17. and 28th he saith he knoweth
nothing there of saving that by common fame the sylver transported
from Spayne without license is for the most part laden privately
and the laders thereof if they should be there found out run
great perill and danger.
To the 29th. he saith he doth not know nor hath heard that the Interrate
James Stanier was ever written to or spoke to from any other person
besides the sayd Michaelson to putt in a Clayme for the sylver now
Claymed or any part thereof. And further he cannot depose.

Undershaft London merchant. aged 23
yeares or thereabouts a witnes sworne and
examined deposeth and saith as followeth videlicet
To the first article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith that the arlate Cornelis
and Henry Hilleweree who this deponent hath knowne by
Correspondency for theis 7 yeares now last past, were and are by
common account fflandrians borne and were and are merchants
of Antwerpe of great quality and esteeme and subiects of the King
of Spayne and so accounted and for all the sayd seven yeares they
have lived, as is evident to this deponent by their letters of
advice, att Antwerpe, where they doe likewise and present live and
inhabite. And otherwise he cannot depose.
