...and that the sayd Conrade Esser was and is a Hamburgher
borne by common repute and there now liveth videlicet at Hamburgh and
hath done all his tyme saving some yeares that he lived in Saint Lucar
as a merchant stranger, and returned home to Hamburgh from thence
about 3 yeares now past And saith he was and is a subiect of the ffree
State of Hamburgh and for such commonly accounted and taken. And
otherwise he cannot depose.
To the Crosse Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the .1. he saith he is steersman of the Salvador and so hath bene 21 monthes
and came first aboard att Cadiz in Spaine and was aboard att the tyme of seizure
To the .2. he saith he knoweth the producent and so hath done for .6. yeares now
past. and knoweth Joachim Schaer and so hath done for three yeares now past
and saw the sayd Schaer att Cadiz in Company of this Rendent and the sayd
Christian Cloppenbergh.

To the 4.th he saith that the sayd Esser and Schaer are both by common repute natives
of Hamburgh and Jochim Schaer for 8 or 9 yeares hath lived in Saint Lucar
but the name of the Street he knoweth not, and formerly by repute lived att
Hamburgh all or most of his tyme. and the sayd Essers howse is neer to
the Millbridge in Hamburgh. and further referring to his foregoeing
depositions he cannot depose.
