The second day of November 1653. [CENTRE HEADING]

Examined upon the sayd allegation

Heinrick Grouve of Vimar in Holsteinland
Mariner steersman of the sayd shipp the Salvador
aged thirty yeares or thereabouts a witnes sworne
and examined deposeth and saith as followeth videlicet

To the first second third and fourth articles of the sayd allegation This deponent
saith and deposeth that the arlate Conrade Esser, who is as he saith an
Inhabitant and merchant of Hamburgh and using a trade betwixt
Hamburgh and Saint Lucar and Cadiz for sylver, did att Cadiz in Spainne by his
factor Joachim Schaer lade aboard the arlate shipp the Salvador whereof
Christian Cloppenbergh was master, one bagg of moneyes of Mexico
and Sevill conteyning three hundred peices of eight more or lesse, and
marked as in the margent for his owne Accompt, to be transported in
the sayd shipp from Cadiz to Ostend in fflanders and there to be
delivered to the Accompt and use of him the sayd producent to himselfe
or his Agents, which sayd moneyes were so laden in the moneth of August
1652, and were the proper moneyes of the producent (the premisses he
knoweth to be true being present and aboard the sayd shipp when Joachim
Schaer did lade the sayd moneyes for the Accompt oaforesayd and heard him
then say that the same werepart of the proceed of a Cargazon of goods which
he had received upon the producents accompt from Hamburgh, and saith [?hee]
was present, and saw the sayd Christian Cloppenbergh firme to three bills
of lading for the sayd moneyes all of one tenor one whereof came along with the sayd
moneyes and was aboard att the tyme of seizure and came into the hands
of the Takers who sent the same as he beleiveth into the Registry of this
Court. And saith the bill of lading abiding in the Registry of this Court
and now shewne him att the tyme of his examination was and is one of the
sayd Originall bills of lading which this deponent saw firmed as aforesayd
and the same was and is true and reall and not colourable. And otherwise
cannot depose saving he beleiveth the sayd bill of lading now shewne [?him] [?is] [?the]
very bill of lading that came along with the sayd moneyes as aforesayd.
