The tewntyeth day of October 1653. [CENTRE HEADING

The Clayme of the Reverend ffather the Rector}
of the Colledge of the Society of Jesus in Antwerp}
and of the Reverend ffathers ffrancis de [?Hees])
Godfrey Henzemio and others of the ffathers}
of that Society for their sylver in the}
shipp the Saint George (whereof John Martensdorp}
was and is master) taken by some of the shipps}
of the State and Commonwealth of England.}

Juan de Losa Barona of Limma in
the West Indies merchant aged forty
yeares or thereabouts a witnes sworne
and examined deposeth and saith as followeth

To the first article of the sayd alllegation This deponent saith that for many
yeares last and for ten yeares and upwards but for how many in certayne
he knoweth not there hath bene and is a Colledge founded and erected in
Antwerpe in Brabant intituled the Society of Jesus whereof there is a
REctor and severall members untitules the ffathers of the Society of Jesus
and somuch is as he saith publique and notorious. And otherwise he cannot
depose.

To the second Article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith and deposeth
that in or about the latter end of September or beginning of October 1652
the tyme otherwise he remembreth not the factor or Correspondent of the
foresayd Rector of the Colledge called the Society of Jesus in Antwerpe before
mentioned did lade and putt on board the arlate shipp the Saint George whereof
the sayd John Martens dorp was and is master, then lyeing in the baye
of Cadiz, One case with sixteene peices of sylver great and small
and also one bagg with sylver marked as in the margent for the Accompt
and Adventure of the sayd Rector and ffathers of the Society of Jesus to be in
the sayd shipp transported to Oastend in fflanders and there to be delivered
to the sayd Rector and ffathers or their Agents for their Accompt. And saith
that the sayd Rector and ffathers of the Society of Jesus in Antwerpe att the
tyme of the sayd lading of the sylver above mentioned and before and
since were and att presnt are the lawfull Owners and Proprietors of all
the sayd sylver now claymed and so accounted, The premisses This deponent
