was mett by the said Mr. Maplesden and by him was
carryed into the Round house where they two stayed
in private a while and returned out thence againe
and then the said Man of warre's Officer hee saith went
abord his Boate and the said Maplisden went allsoe
along with him. But as the said Maplisden was goeing out
of his ship with the said Boat The Boatswaine of the
said ship catcht him by the Arme and there held him
fast then desired him that for God sake hee would not
s[?oane] as goe out of the said ship the Lawrell, telling him if
hee did, then they should all bee undone and that the ship and goods
would bee quite lost of soe in effect. To which the said Maplisden
replyed that hee would goe and that if any thing otherwise
then what was well should happen thereupon then it should fall
upon his owne head. or to that effect. and soe hee went into
the said man of warr's boat along with the said officer abord the said man
of warre and returned not againe to his owne shippe, And then
this deponent saith the said Man of warre did againe send his boate
with a great number of Armed men in it to the Lawrell's sides whuch
there demanded entrance and leave to come abord, but the company
abord refused to permitt theire entrance whereupon the said Mr.
Maplisden from abord the man of warre (which then lay close by the
Lawrell) in this deponents heareing did call out and desire
his mate Brigwell who then was abord the Lawrell to permitt
and suffer the said man of warre's boate and men in her
to come abord them and not to refuse them at his and the rest of
the Companyes p[XXXs]. telling the said mate that they were
ffreinds and that neither hee nor any of his Company should
loose a penny by them and that hee the said Brigwell and the rest of his
Company should not appose them in any thing they desired
whereupon the said Manne of warres Company went abord the [XXXXX GUTTER]
and demanded halfe the Company thereof to goe into the boate
and soe from thence to goe abord the man of warre which by reason
of the said Mr Maplsden's forementioned desires was condescended
and yeilded unto and by reason that theire Cape Merchant
Mr Mayne then abord did allsoe desire the same and was
consenting to all that was done from the first meeting with
the said man of warre, And saith that the said halfe of the
Company were noe sooner gone abord the said Man of
Warre
