To the second Interrogatorie hee saith that hee this deponent
bought his said shares of and in the said ship the Mathew
and John of the said William Salmon and that the same
C[ost] him at the first penney and the setting and furnishing [XXXX]
out to sea the summe of two hundred and 50 li sterling or
thereabouts. And saith that at the said tyme of the losse
of the said ship this deponent had the said shares therein.
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the third Interrogatorie hee saith that when the said ship was
soe seized as aforesaid shee was in her direct
Course for London. which hee knoweth for the reasons
by him predeposed. to which hee referreth himselfe for
further answere to this Interrogatorie./

To the 4th Interrogatorie hee saith that his this deponents
servant and his contest ffranciis Halliard with others
of his Company belonging to the said ship the Mathew
and John were sett on shore upon the Coast of England
neare ffalmouth in Cornewall about 13 or 14 dayes after
the said seizure But saith that none of the said Company
save only this deponents servant did then come for
Londn from thence But his said servant hee saith came
up to London from thence and arrived heare about the
28th day of ffebruary 1651 if not before and then gave this deponents
father a letter which this deponent had wrote and sent unto him by which
said letter hee saith and not before his said ffather
had notice of the losse of the said ship. And otherwise
hee cannot depose.

Francis Halliard of the Towne of Southampton
Marriner aged 24 yeares or thereabouts
sworne and Examined as aforesaid deposeth as
followeth videlicet.

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that
hee well knewe the ship the Mathew and John
where of his precontest Edward Arlibe[?a]re was master
at such tyme as shee was lost att the canary Ilands
and was then Cooper of and abord her And saith
that the said ship departed from the said Ilands for London
upon the ninth day of January last past old stile
And further hee cannot depose.
