16. July 1651.

The keepers of the Liberties of England by}
authoritie of Parliament against Captaine Clarke}

Examined upon an allegation in acts and certaine
exhibits on the behalfe of the said Clarke.

Rp. j.

William Webster of the citie of London Merchant, one of
the Accompatnts in the Prize office, aged 45 yeares or thereabouts
sworne and examined.

To the said allegation and to the exhibits therein mentioned nowe showne unto him
hee saith and deposeth that the said exhibits were and are true copies of the
originalls thereof remayneing in the office of the Collectors for prize Goods
and were and are subscribed with the proper hand of him this deponent
touching the truth of the said copie[?a]s concorda[?nt] with their originalls, and
were and are alsoe subscribed by the allegate Robert Seawell and that
hee this deponent and the said Seawell wereat the time of the said subscriotion officers in the said
Prize office, And lastly saith that the originalls of the said schedules or exhinits were
and are Accompts given into the said office touching the severall shipps
therein mentioned by the producent Captaine Clarke who delivered the
same in as true and full accompts for the said severall shipps.

Examined upon the allegation aforesaid

Rp 2.

Robert Seawell of the parish of Olaves hartstreete,
London one of the clarkes of the Navy office under mr Thomas Smith aged
47 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined.

To the said allegation and schedul[?a]s hee sith and deposeth that the said
schedul[?a]s were and are true copi[?a]s of the originalls thereof containing
an Accompt given in by Captaine Clarke to mr Thomas Smith and
John hill Esquires late Collectors for Prize goods touching the shipps therein mentioned, and the said
Schedul[?a]s or copia[?a]s were and are subscribed (touching the agreement thereof
with the said originalls) with the proper hands of him this examinate and
his precontest William Webster then officers in the Prize office, And
otherwise hee cannot depose.

Rp. 2.

Marcus Johnson May of Amsterdam Mariner, aged 33 yeares
or thereabouts sworne and examined.

To the first and second articles hee saith and deposeth that the producents
hendrick Aga[X], [X]alti[?e] Cornelison and company all Inhabitants of
Amsterdam and other parts of the Netherlands in the dominion of the States of the
said [X]ands have bin and are the true and lawfull owners and proprietors of
the shipp the Golden Wagon arlate (Peter A[?nn]is master) and of her
tackle and furniture and soe commonly accompted, which shipp being in
[XXXX] last taken by them of Scilly, and afterwards retaken by the Parliaments
shipp is nowe lying in the river of Thames where hee was yesterday aboard
and saith that hee this deponent is sent over from Amsterdam by the said
owners for the recovery of the said shipp, and thereby hee well knoweth their
proprietie [?t]herein. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
