On the behalf of Robert English}
Merchant against the shipp called}
the dorcas etcetera.}

On the libell given in on the behalf of the
said English Examined./

1.

James How of the parish of Saint Saviours London woodmonger
aged 65 yeares or thereabouts a wittnes sworne and examined
deposeth as followeth

To the first article of the said Libell hee saith and deposeth, that for
and dureing all the time arlate the arlate Thomas Sandwell was Master
and Comander of the shipp the dorcas arlate and had the care and chardge
thereof, and for such during all the time aforesaid was comonly
accompted reputed and taken, which hee knoweth for that hee hath
sometimes bought of him part of his said shipps lading of Coales when
hee hath bin Master thereof as aforesaid And further hee cannot depose.

To the iith article of the said libell hee saith that the
said Thomas Sandwell being (as hee conceiveth) [?remooved] from the comand
of the said shipp, one Samuell James within the time arlate or moneth of [XXXX] following brought the
said shipp with the Coales arlate upp to this Port of London, and there [?proceeded]
to sell said the Coales unto this deponent who offored him
fortie pounds [?ascore] for everyone and twenty Chaldron to the [?score]
which the said James refuseing, this deponent saith that hee did credibly heare
and was certainely informed that the said Samuell James sould the said
coales to one Robert Lott att the Iron gate for thirtie three pounds the score
And further hee knoweth not saveing the said James tould this deponent
also as much that hee had sould the coales but for 33 li the score as aforesaid

To the 13.th hee saith hee cannot depose.

To the rest hee is not Examined bydirection of the producent.

[GUTTER XXXX] [?Robinson] Master etcetera}

James Howe aforesaid, sworne and Examined as aforesaid deposeth
as followeth that is to say//.

To the Tenth article hee saith that within the time arlate, And after the said shipp
the Unicorne comeing from Newcastle with the Coales arlate to this port
of London, hee this deponent did buy of the arlate John Robinson then Master
of the said shipp, about an hundred and fortie Chaldron of coales
, for which hee saith hee
paid unto the said Robinson for [?each ?score] (being [?allowed] 21 chaldron to the [?score] the sume of
twentie five pounds sterling every score and further hee cannot depose.

To the 11th hee saith hee cannot depose.

To the rest hee is not Examined by direction of the producent./

Repeated in both causes before doctor Exton./
