  • Insert immediately after the sentence or phrase you wish to annotate the following macro:<ref>This is the footnote text</ref>
  • Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
  • Save the page

Transcription

To the 3d pretensed position this rendent answererth
and referreth himselfe to the schedule, or
Charterparty arlate, which he beleveth to
bee true, and otherwise he doth not beleeve
the said pretensed position to bee true in any
parte/

To the 4th pretensed position this rendent answereth
and beleeveth that the arlate Shipp the Unity
after this rendent had freighted her did
depart, and sett saile from this port of
London on the voyadge arlate, and safely
arrived att the Island of the Canaries
in the port or harbour of Loratava arlate
on the 20th day of October arlate and not before
as he beleeveth, and this rendent beleeveth
that after the said shipps arrivall there
the arlate Thomas fflawes went on shoare
there, and delivered some of this rendents
letters unto the arlate William Clapham
one of this rendents factors there, and other
letters unto severall other merchants att the
Canaries with whom this rendent had
likewise correspondence, and commerce
and this rendent beleeveth that the arlate
William Clapham did receave divers goods
and letters directed, and consigned unto him
by this rendent, and tooke notice of
the arrivall of the said shipp on the 20th
of October arlate, and not before ut
credit, and otherwise he doth not beleeve
the said pretensed position to bee true in
any part/
