and hee alsoe beleeveth that in theire
homewards voyadge they did meete
with the severall shipps arlate with
which this rendent endeavoured to
have kept Company but the said
Soames and Chapman neglectinge
theire watch and slackeing saile
without and contrary to the order
of this Rendent they left the Compa
ny of the said shipps as hee beleeveth
which as hee beleeveth did come safe
to this porte of London but this
REndent being by the neglect of the
said Soames and Chapman in theire
watch put out of his course was by
the said Soames perswaded and
importuned to steere that course
which brought him into Saint Georges
Channell and afterwards upon the
second of June 1650 neere the Isle
of Wight the said shippe was chaced
and sett upon by Jersey men of warre
where the said parties agent respective
ly did refuse to make resistance by
which meanes the shipp was presently
taken one full fourth parte whereof
did belonge to this Rendent and a
great parte of her ladeing in all
to the value of one Thousand
poundes of lawfull money of
England and after they were taken
and brought to Jersey the said
