Examined upon the said Allegation</margin>

William Deeping of the parish of St Nicholas Olaves
Chirurgion aged 49 years or thereabouts a wittnes sworne
and examined saith as followeth Videlicet:/

6. To the first article of the said Allegation hee saith that in the month of
7. October 1614 last past and for sevrall months before and since arlate
8. Captaine John Haselgrave Alderman Slye, Master Dashworth, Master Lewes
9. and Companie were the true and lawfull owner and proprietor of the shipp
10. the Levant friggatt arlate and of her tackle apparrell and furniture, and for
11. said as such Own: the paid Haselgrave and Companie were and are ˹well˺ knowne
12. and observed the premisses hee knoweth for that he this exaiate served three
13. severall voiages ˹(which of the voiage all are was one)˺ chirurgion in and aboard the said shipp and came
14. to be informed and take notice of the ,Owner and Proprietor aforesaid and
15. further cannot depose

16. To the second article of the said Allegation he saith that in the yeare 1654 arlate
17. and before the said shipp proceeded from Gravesend the voiage allate which
18. was in the moneth of July in the same yeare,the said Captaine John Haselgrave
19. and Companie sett the said shipp the Levant friggat to freight upon a voiage from
20. the Port of London to Genoa, Henry Chowne and Companie arlate which
21. voiage shee formed and delivered her outwards lading in safety ˹at Genoa˺ which hee knoweth
22. for that this deponent in the quality aforesaid sayled and served in the said shipp, and
23. hath had in his this deponent custodie the Charterpartie made for the said voiage.
24. And further cannot depose./

25. To the third (the schedule or charterpartie therein mentioned not being annexed) hee
26. saith hee cannot depose; this deponent not being present when the said Charterpartie was
27. signed, sealed or delivered by the parties arlate

28. To the 4th he saith That the said shipp having received aboard her in this Port
29. of London her outwards ladeing proceeded herewith upon the voiage allate to
30. Genoa and there discharged the same as aforesaid, and from thence sayled to the
31. Island of Lipora, where shee received in a ladeing consisting of three
32. thousand barrills of raisins for the accompt of the said Henry Chowne and
33. Company, and brought the same in safety to this Port of London where the
34. same were discharged. The premises he knoweth upon the grounds predeposed
35. And further cannot depose:/

36. To the 4th:article he saith that immediately upon the receipt of the said
37. 3000 barrills of raisins aboard the said shipp (which was fully accomplished
38. upon the 17th day of October 1654) the arlate Mr Abraham Hopgood
39. who had laded the said goods as factor for the said Chowne and Companie)
40. being aboard the said shipp at or neere Lepora aforesaid, the said Captaine
41. John Haselgrave demanded of him in the hearing of this deponent and severall
42. others of the said shipps companie, whether hee the said Hopgood had any
43. more goods or merchandises to bee laden aboard the said shipp for the accompt
44. aforesaid, to which the said Hopwood replyed, that the 3000 barrills of
45. raisins aforesaid was the said marchants full complement and that it was
46. all that hee had order for, or know of to bee ˹then˺ laden aboard the said vessell
47. And saith that the said Hopwood being further demanded and vr{}ed by the
48. said Haselgrave hee replyed that hee (videlicet the said Hopgood) had not any
49. money of the said merchants wherewith to buy any more goods for them
50. or words to like effort, and the said Hopgood than desired the said
51. Haselgrave to sett saile with his said shipp and the goods aboard her for
52. London, all which the premises deponent heard and observed aboard the
53. said shipp, and saw the said Hopgood then also deliver the despatches to the
54. said Haselgrave in order to his said voiage, requiring him to sett saile with
55. the first convenience of wind, which was the very next day being the
56. 10th day of October aforesaid accordingly performed and further hee cannot depose.
