George Willingham was a freeman of the London Painterstainers' Company but traded as a merchant. He lived at the Golden Anchor in St Swithin's Lane, near London Stone. In 1642 he received several letters from his former servant, Nehemiah Wharton, who was serving as a sergeant in the parliamentarian army.
