that there were alsoe taken awaya nd wanting by meanes of the said<br />
seizure to the valew of twenty pounds sterling in silkes, sweet meates<br />
rice and paper, and of the said shipps store tackle, furniture and<br />
appurtenance to the valew of two hundred and fiftie pounds sixteene shillings and six pence sterling<br />
And further saith that the said proprietors in the oiles that were brought<br />
home (being neare thirtie tonnes) suffered losse and dammage to the summe<br />
of five or six pounds on each of the said tonnes by dammage and<br />
deterioration of the oiles by the said detention and losse of market, and the<br />
said anchovas which were brought home being twenty nine barrells were<br />
dammaged and deteriorated one halfe of what they were worth at the<br />
time of their seizure, which dammage came by the said seizure and losse<br />
of market of the said anchovas that were brought home, And lastly that<br />
the said shipp lay six weekes under the said seizure and restraint, and that<br />
her owners aforesaid were at greate charges of sute and meanes used<br />
for recovery of the aid shipp and goods at Cadiz, and in fitting her out<br />
[?thence] and furnishing with provisions in stead of what was [?wanting]<br />
and taken away upon and by meanes of the said seizure and for<br />
victualls for the companie in that space, amounting in all to the<br />
summe of ninetie pounds sterling in his estimation, comprizing [?XXX ?XXX]<br />
the shipps lying still and want of imployment, The premisses hee<br />
deposeth for the reasons aforesaid going the said voyage, and seeing the<br />
premisses soe donne. And further hee cannot depose.
To the eighth hee saith that there was pease and amitie made<br />
and established betweene this Commonwealth and the States of<br />
the United Netherlands before the said time of the said seizure<br />
And referreth himselfe to the Articles of the said Pease for<br />

To the last hee saith his foregoing deposition is true.

acts of Court and examined upon certaine Interrogatories<br />
ministred on the behalfe of the said Walters and<br />
others, saith as followeth by vertue of his oath.
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that hee<br />
wel knoweth the shipp the ''John Baptista'' of London and<br />
hath soe donne for theise eight monethes last past,<br />
and saith the producents Major George Walters<br />
and companie were and are commonly accounted owners<br />
of the said shipp and subiects of this Commonwealth. And<br />
further hee cannot depose.
To the second hee saith that the said shipp the ''John Baptista''<br />
was in her last voyage bound for the Barbada's and thence for<br />
