To the first article of the sayd allegation he cannot depose
To the 2d 3d fourth, fifth, sixth, seaventh and eight articles<br />
of the sayd allegation he deposeth and saith That he<br />
this deponent being a Wayter at the Customehouse did<br />
goe aboard the interrate shipp the ''Stambaleene'' she then<br />
lyeing neere Radcliffe, and he saith that when this deponent<br />
was soe aboard her he heard the arlate William Crumpe<br />
(having an occasion to goe on shoare) call unto the Mariners<br />
of the sayd shipp and bad them to have a great care of the<br />
sayd shipp, saying Let me knowe who stays aboard, and<br />
some of the said Mariners did shew themselves for such<br />
as would not stirr from aboard the sayd shipp to whom<br />
he have a stric charge of the care and safety of the<br />
sayd shipp, And he saith that after the said Crumps<br />
going ashoare that some of the said shipps Company did<br />
alsoe goe ashoare but he knoweth not the names of such<br />
oas went ashore or of those thats stayed aboard her, and<br />
that the said shipp being sett on fire by the fire within<br />
her, she and a great part of her goods were consumed<br />
which in probability and as this deponent conceiveth might<br />
have bin prevented, if all the sayd shipps Company had<br />

sasfe moorings neere Radcliffe, and that the said Mariners<br />
were very poore and seemed to have endured much hardshipp<br />
And further he cannot answeare.
To the 2d Interrogatory he answereth that there was aboard the<br />
interrate shipp at the time interrate this Rendent and two {?Wayters]<br />
more of the Custome house and sixe men and boyes of the<br />
sayd shipps Company And to the rest he knoweth not to<br />
answeare.
To the third, fourth and fifth Interrogatoryes he cannot<br />
answeare more thn he hath formerly deposed, and otherwise<br />
negatively.
