their Account, and with the Proceede thereof to Lade<br />

James Bogle John Walkinshawe and Company or the<br />
Agents which hee Deposeth being Master of the said ship and<br />
receiving the said Herrings Butter and Salmon on board the<br />
said ship And further cannot depose./.
To the 3d hee saith that having received the said Lading of<br />

set saile from Glascow with the same on board her<br />
and in her course for Bourdeaux on the sixth of October<br />
last, the said ship and her said Lading were surprized<br />

Ushan by a ship called the ''Charls'' whereof one William<br />
Browne (who was lieutenant of her) was then Comander,<br />

To the 4th. 5th. and 6th. hee saith that after the said Browne<br />
and Company had soe seized the said ship the ''hope'', and<br />
alsoe another ship which was in her Company called the<br />
''Golden Cock'' of Glascowe, the said Browne Comanded this Deponent<br />
and the aster of the ''Golden Cock'' on board the ''Charls'' and<br />
there kept them Prisoners and did demande them to [XXXX] the<br />
summe of 225 ''li'' Sterling on board the ''Charls'' which was [XXX XXXX of ?Command] for the said ships the ''Hope'' and the<br />
''Cock'' and ladings which this deponent and the Master of the ''Cock'' refused too<br />
doe their ships and Ladings being free, and upon their refusall<br />
the said Browne told them that if they would bot hee<br />
would carry their ships and ladings to the [?leaven] Islands<br />
and their sell them, saying that there hee could sell his<br />
ffather for money or to that effect, And saith that this<br />
Deponent and the said Master of the ''Golden Cock'' oftentimes told<br />
the said Browne that the aid ships did belong to<br />
Glascowe, and that all their owners lived theire and were subjects<br />
of this Commonwealth, And the said Browne tooke away<br />
the Cocketts and papers belonging to both the said ships<br />
