saith that the said shipp the ''Charity'' and goods in the same<br />
being soe seized as aforesaid, were by the said Garnett and<br />
Companie forced to saile to Alfordnesse upon the Coast of<br />
England. The premisses this deponent saith hee well knoweth<br />
for that hee this deponent was on board the said shipp ''Charity''<br />
at such time as the same and her Lading were so seized and<br />
brought to Alfordnesse as aforesaid, at which place this deponent<br />
and three others of the said shipps Companie were by the<br />
said seizors sett on shoare. And further to this Interrogatorie<br />
hee saith not./
To the sixth Interrogatorie hee saith, That hee this examinate was<br />
present and on board the said shipp ''Charitie'' at such time as<br />
the said Captaine Garnett (soe called by his said shipps Companie)<br />
togeather with the shipps Companie of his said Vessell did<br />
by force and violence putt eleaven of their men togeather with<br />
the said Captaine on board the said shipp ''Charity'', and being soe<br />
entred into the said shipp ''Charity'', the said seizors Companie kept<br />
this deponent and the said Master and Companie under a strong and<br />
violent restraint, not suffereing them more than one at one to come<br />
upon the deck of their said shipp, especially if any shipp was in<br />
sight, and during such restraint, severall of the said Captaines<br />
Companie soe sett on board the said shipp ''Charity'' did constantly<br />
keepe pistolls ready charged in their pocketts,<br />
and had their<br />
Cutlases by their sides, and threatned this deponent and Companie<br />
that if they made any Commotion or Complaint, they would<br />
shoote them or cutt their throats or kill them, or used words and<br />
expressions to that or the like effect, which this deponent heard and<br />
hath very great occasion thereby to know and remember the dealings<br />
of the said seizors with this deponent and Companie./ More to this<br />
Interrogatorie this deponent saith not./
To the seaventh Interrogatorie hee saith, That the said Captaine<br />
Garnett and Companie upon the said seizure did carry away the said<br />
shipp the ''Charity'' and her lading and the said Master and his mate<br />
and a boy to the said shipp belonging, and did Land this deponent<br />
and three others of the said shipps Companie at Ashfordnesse<br />
aforesaid about eight daies after the said seizure (the time hee<br />
otherwise remembreth not) ffurther this deponent saith, That the said<br />
seizors Companie soe sett on board the said shipp ''Charity'' did<br />
drinke out much of the best beere on board the said shipp, and<br />
that one hogshead and one barrell of beare were thence conveyed<br />
on board the said Garnetts vessell, as this deponent saw and observed<br />
during such his restraint, but by reason of his said restraint<br />
